A Manhattan couple quickly fired an African American nanny after accidentally sending her a racist text.

Giselle Maurice, 44, had an agreement of $350 a day for 6 months as a live-in caretaker for Lynsey Plasco-Flaxman. She was fired on the first day of the job. They gave her that day’s pay and sent her home in an Uber. Giselle Maurice is now taking them to court for wages she was promised.

When Lynsey Plasco Flaxman found out the Nanny was black, she says she tried to send her husband the text, and accidentally sent it to Maurice. The text read:

After realizing her mistake, Lynsey Plasco Flaxman quickly fired the Black nanny, saying that she now felt “Uncomfortable”. She doesn’t trust her around her child because she said something racist.

Her husband, Plasco, co-chairman of the Dalmore Group investment bank, defended her by saying:

“[My wife] had sent her something that she didn’t mean to say. She’s not a racist. We are not racist people … But would you put your children in the hands of someone you’ve been rude to, even if it was by mistake? Your newborn baby? Come on.”

“[I want] to show them, look, you don’t do stuff like that,” said Giselle Maurice.

She took them to court after saying that mediation didn’t go well.

The husband, Plasco, argues that Maurice wasn’t under contract, so they don’t owe her compensation, calling it “Extortion”. He says that they’re the “real victims here.”

Maurice is seeking $63,000 in damages.

The millionaire Banker, Plasco said:

“I’m not someone who has millions of dollars lying around to just pay off people that are coming after me for extortion. And now you’re playing straight into her hands.”
