A woman was conducting an interview outside about what kind of men Women like.

One of the interviewers the woman asked said something that’s currently going viral on twitter and other social media.

Colorism is officially defined as

“prejudice or discrimination against individuals with a dark skin tone, typically among people of the same ethnic or racial group.”,

which also includes the attraction to lightskinned people specifically. It’s also important to know that the word was created and based off of Eurocentric attacks on Dark skin and Dark skin specifically, through things like insulting dark skin the darker it is, creating Lightning products for dark skinned people, discrimination against darker skinned people in the workplace preventing them getting jobs, and in the educational system compared to their lightskinned counterparts. The use of Lightning products is currently rampant worldwide and especially in African and Caribbean countries to the point where some countries have had to ban lightning products from being important for produced. The word cannot be used for “Discrimination against  light skinned people.” as some people do. Colorism is also rampant in most Asian countries where darker skinned asians are viewed as less and are discriminated against in the same way in their own countries, forcing them to buy skin lightning products.
