Turkish wedding photographer, Onur Albayrak, was hired atTurgut Özal Nature Park in the eastern Turkish province of Malatya. On the wedding day, he noticed that the bride looked very young. He approached her and asked her how old he was, learning that she was only 15.

Albayrak says he had the met the groom before the wedding,

“The groom had come to my studio some two weeks ago and was alone, I saw the bride for the first time at the wedding. She’s a child, and I felt her fear because she was trembling.”

He refused to take pictures, saying “I can’t take pictures of a child bride.”

As he tried to leave the groom tried to be aggressive towards him, and he turned around, beat up the groom and broke his nose.

Albayrak write,

“I wish this had never happened, but it did, and if you were to ask me if I’d do the same thing again, I’d say ‘yes.’ Child brides are [victims] of child abuse and no power on earth can make me photograph a child in a wedding gown.”
