4 years has passed since a white police officer has killed Tamir Rice.
In November 2014, officer Timothy Loehmann and his partner Frank Gambark responded to a 911 call that stated there was a Man outside with a gun. The caller told 911 that it was an Adult, and that it may just be a toy gun, not an actual real gun. When the police arrived, they drove up to Tamir Rice and immediately opened fire on him while he was playing with his toy pallet gun.
None of the officers were charged for his shooting, Loehmann was only fired from the from the Cleveland Police Department.
Now Loehmann is getting a second chance at being a cop again. He was hired back as an officer with the Bellaire Police Department according to the Associated Press and the department’s chief.
Attorney Subodh Chandra, who speaks on behalf of the Rice family told the local news outlet that Tamir Rice’s mother, Samaria Rice
“believes that Timothy Loehmann does not belong on any police force, anywhere, period … Someone with his record should not be subjected upon the citizenry. But she does hope that this means that he will not ever return to Cleveland.”
