Somali-American singer Yasminah is going after The Weeknd because she says he plagiarized the song “Starboy” from one of her songs.

The song that she says he plagiarized from is called “Hooyo”. She says the only reason he knew about the song is because it was becoming very popular in the East African community. The Weeknd’s ethnicity is Ethiopian although he was born in Canada. Both his parents are Ethiopian immigrants.

Yasminah actually already took The Weeknd and Daft Punk to court before and they reached a settlement. She’s currently claiming her label kept the money, so she needs money to take care of herself.

She’s currently going after the weekend Daft Punk and Republic Records for $5 million for plagiarizing her work.
