A professor was arrested for spending $185,000 in research grants on strip clubs and more.
Chika Nwankpa, 57, the former head of the electrical engineering department, admitted to borrowing more than $185,000 of grants meant for research, and spending it on entertainment.
The former Drexel University professor was confronted by by officials at the Philadelphia university last year for misusing the funds.
Nwankpa was arrested on Monday.
Prosecutors who announced his arrest stated that half the grant research money, about $96,000 went towards spending time with women in strip clubs and bars.
Nwankpa spent the other half on iTunes and food.
He got the money from the Navy, the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation, and spent the money from 2010-2017.
Drexel University settled to pay $190,000 in October last year to avoid a lawsuit.
After his recent arrest Monday he was released on $25,000 bail.
