Police are investigating after a man tried to rob a Jamaican man and got sent to the afterlife.
Miami police responded to a call on Northwest 71st Street and Sixth Court, overnight Monday.
They found a man laying down unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
Donovan Stewart said he was the one who shot the man. He says he was forced to shoot him after the man pointed an AK-47 to his face.
Donovan told reporters:

“I never would’ve come out of that alive. I never would’ve come out of that alive. He come to kill, he come for blood. And guess what he after? My jewelry. The only reason I came out alive is I grabbed that AK and I put it to the side…”
Stewart says the man woke him up with a loud knock at his car door, and acted violently towards him as soon as he opened the door.
“He was so violent when I open! When I look up, the AK was in my nose. I came to my senses, threw the AK out and I emptied my Glock in his chest.”
Police closed off the area for much of Monday as they investigated, and have yet to officially figure out what happened.
Police ceased Stewart’s gun and van as part of the ongoing investigation.
