“Aye yo run that domain name playa”. A man pulls up to another mans house, holds him at gunpoint and tries to steal his .com domain name. Demands he transfer his domain name and website to him.

Court documents show an intruder broke into another mans house in Cedar Rapids Iowa with a cellphone in hand, a stolen gun, pantyhose for a mask on his head, a hat, and dark sunglasses.

According to the US Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Iowa, Rossi Lorathio Adams II could face up to 20 years in prison, a jury found him guilty of hiring his cousin to go steal a domain name from someone, and force the transfer to him about two years ago.

Adams is a social media influencer who created a social media company called “State Snaps” 4 years ago. The company operates on the most popular social media platforms like Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram.

On his platforms his followers would use the slogan “doitforstate” to encourage and cheer the types of content he uploaded.

Courts documents say:

“At one time, Adams had over a million followers on his social media sites, which mostly contained images and videos of young adults engaged in crude behavior, drunkenness and nudity”

The documents also state:

“Between 2015 and 2017, Adams repeatedly tried to obtain ‘doitforstate.com,’ but the owner of the domain would not sell it. Adams also threatened one of the domain owner’s friends with gun emojis after the friend used the domain to promote concerts,”

It’s stated that in 2017 Adams hired his cousin to drive to a mans house and hold him at gunpoint, and wrote a note with instructions on transferring the domain name that was supposed to be handed to the man.

When the cousin broke into the victims house, he grabbed his arm and ordered him to get on his computer and connect to the internet.

While connecting to the internet, the victim fearing for his life, very quickly turned around and pushed the gun away from his head, and managed to take the gun out of the cousin’s hands and shot him multiple times.

Adam’s cousin lived, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison last year.

Adam now awaits his own sentencing this year.
