A husband was arrested after cutting off the penis of a man who was sexually assaulting his wife.

According to reports, a Ukranian man cut off an alleged rapist’s penis after he witnessed the man sexually assaulting his wife.

Police say the 27-year-old man was headed home in Shevchenkovo in eastern Ukraine when he saw the alleged attacker, Dmitry Ivchenko, after the couple finished eating with friends at a restaurant on Saturday.

The report states that the victim left the restaurant first and headed home. The husband left the restaurant about 10 minutes later after her. When the husband arrived at the house he heard a commotion in bushes near his apartment, and that’s when he spotted Ivchenko choking his wife as he was raping her.

Ivchenko, 25, is pictured below:

After punching Ivchenko off of his wife, the husband took out his swiss army knife and hacked his penis off.

Reports state that the husband, while still in a state of shock, then walked 8 miles to a neighboring village where he then asked a friend to take him to a police station.

The husband’s lawyer, Dmitry Spaskin argued for him in court, saying:

“The husband lost the ability to control his actions. He did not understand what he was doing.”

The man, who wasn’t identified was sentenced to house arrest, The Sun reports.

According to reports, the rapist was taken to the hospital where he had surgery to stop the bleeding, but it’s unclear if his penis will be able to be reattached.

Prosecutor Tetiana Vasileva said:

“The rapist said that he was dumped by his girlfriend a week ago, on the day of the incident, he drank a liter of vodka. He is refusing to say more so far.”

The husband is facing up to 8 years in jail if found guilty. Dmitry Ivchenko faces up to five years for the rape.

Dmitry currently remains in the hospital under police surveillance as the investigation continues.
