Disney has cast Chloe x Halle singer Halle to play Ariel in “Little Mermaid”.
Halle, from the R&B duo Chloe x Halle has been cast by Disney to play Ariel in upcoming live-action movie “Little Mermaid.”
“They” are currently mad, and the joy “we’re” feeling from this news is overwhelming.
Director Rob Marshall released a statement today confirming the news.
Marshall stated that although he met with many people for the part, Halle has been a front-runner from the beginning.
He said in his statement:
“After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,”
Halle celebrated with a post on twitter:
“The Little Mermaid” will have the original songs from the 1989 movie. The movie will also incorporate new songs from original composer Alan Menken and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda will also be co-producing the film along with Marshall, Marc Platt and John DeLuca.
