A police officer, who works at an elementary school as a security guard as an extra job while off-duty, is under investigation after his gun was found in the girl’s bathroom.
Three girls found an officer’s gun in the bathroom of Catherine Cook School at 2:30pm on March 6.
They told school officials and security guards secured the gun before anyone was hurt.
They discovered the gun belonged to a security guard. The guard is actually a police officer who took up a job as a security guard while he’s off-duty.
Anthony Spicuzza, a spokesman for the Chicago police stated that an internal investigation has been opened.
The officer’s name hasn’t been released hasn’t yet been released.
Spicuzza says the officer will likely not be charged, but he stated that:
“There will be some type of discipline.”
School officials were also not available for comment.
