Cops have given a direct statement saying ABC7 Chicago’s reporting was inaccurate.
ABC7 Chicago reported that their sources that are close to the Jussie Smollet attack say that Police told them that Jussie Smollet staged the attack, and the 2 people in the video were co–conspirators.
The police are now saying that everything that ABC 7 Chicago has said was completely inaccurate, and their reporting is uninformed.
Here’s the statement.
“Media reports about the Empire incident being a hoax are unconfirmed by case detectives,” CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted. “Supt Eddie Johnson has contacted @ABC7Chicago to state on the record that we have no evidence to support their reporting and their supposed CPD sources are uninformed and inaccurate.”
ABC7 Chicago News have also reported that the reason Smollet staged the attack (which is now denied by police that he staged it), was because he was being written off the show. A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox, which produces “Empire,” also denied that Smollett was being written out of the show, saying that it’s absolutely false.
Here’s the statement from the 20th Century Fox Spokesperson,
“The idea that Jussie Smollett has been , or would be, written off of ‘Empire’ is patently ridiculous. He remains a core player on this very successful series and we continue to stand behind him.”
So what can now be confirmed, is that everything ABC7 has reported was completely inaccurate and false, and nothing has moved forward yet. The “Staging” of the attack, has been denied, and Jussie Smollet’s attack has also completely been denied.
Anthony Guglielmi, the chief communications officer for the Chicago Police Department, said there was “no evidence to support” the report that detectives were investigating Smollett’s allegations as a hoax.
