A 60 year old woman involved in a road-rage fatal car crash has been arrested.
Cherokee County deputies have arrested a 60 year old woman who caused a crash that killed a 25 year old woman, and injured the woman’s 6 year old daughter.
Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Jay Baker stated that, acting on a tip, deputies identified Carolyn Rampley of Canton as the driver involved in an altercation with Ashley Faucett on Friday afternoon.
Faucett’s SUV left I-575 and crashed into a tree in the woods after the altercation.
Though Rampley’s car never made contact with Faucet’s car, Baker stated:
“We believe Rampley directly caused Faucett to run off the road,”
Police put out a description for a dark-colored Chevrolet sedan after the wreck, but did not have a tag number for Rampley’s car.
They were able to identify and locate her after a driver who was aware of Friday’s crash recognized Faucet driving in that same area of I-575 recklessly again.
After interviewing her and family members who were in the car during the crash, authorities were able to gather enough evidence to make an arrest.
Rampley was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, aggressive driving and hit-and-run.
She’s being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond.
