An 8 year old boy, pictured above, is being hailed as a hero after he put a stop to another student who brought a gun to school and prevented a potential school shooting.
Johnson, a third grader who attends Hudson Elementary school in Florida was in the bathroom when another student showed him something in his backpack.
The boy pulled out a loaded 9mm pistol, and threatened his life, saying if he said anything he’d kill him.
“He pulled it out, like, and pointed it at the wall. He said ‘If you tell, he’ll kill me.”
Jake said he was scared, but he still felt he had a responsibility to keep others safe and alerted the security guard.
The security guard went to the boy’s classroom and secured the gun from the boy immediately.
The boy who brought the gun to school, who’s also 8 years old, faces possible criminal charges. His identity has not been released.
Johnson’s mom, Laynie, found out about the incident when the school sent out a message to parents about the incident.
She said she had no idea he was the one the letter was referring to when they mentioned a child stopped another student.
The school says it teaches students if they see something, say something. Johnson’s mother says he passed the real world test.
She said she’s very proud of her son knew what to do, and was brave enough to do it.
