A 3 year old boy went missing in woods for 3 days.
A 3 year old toddler named Casey Hathaway went missing in North Carolina for a few days.
Rescuers spent 3 days searching for the boy in the facing heavy rain, gusty winds and low visibility. It’s reported that the rescuers focused on 1,000 acres of heavily wooded areas in the Craven County terrain.
A tip led the rescuers to a spot where they were able to find the toddler on the third day.
Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes told reporters at a news conference on Thursday night that they followed his call 40 to 50 yards into the woods, through water, to find Hathaway tangled in vines and thorns.
Authorities said he was found unharmed, cold but responsive and was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
He’s expected to be released today, Saturday 1/26/2019.
The boy told authorities that he encountered a bear in the woods, and he “hung out with the bear” for companionship, and the bear took care of him and kept him safe.
His aunt Breanna Hathaway shared a post on Facebook saying that God sent him a friend to keep him safe during the time he was in the woods.
